Abarth 595 Trofeo Edition: limited to 250 units, UK only

Fiat Abart 595 Trofeo Edition-01

The hot Fiat 500 Abarth has been given another special edition; it’s not based on the facelifted 500, either, just to be clear. The Abarth 595 Trofeo Edition comes in a new livery and is now on sale, confined to the UK only. Limited to 250 units only, the special Trofeo Edition pays homage to Carlo Abarth and the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europe race series, according to Sebastiano Fedrigo, country manager of the Abarth brand.

Essentially a base Abarth 595 underneath, cosmetic enhancements include a choice of three colours; Record Grey, Scorpione Black and Officina Red. It also has a carbon-like Abarth decal set, “Trofeo Edition” badging and tints for its little rear quarter windows to go along with it.

It also sports 17-inch “Formula” alloy wheels and coloured brake calipers with wheel centre caps that come in the same colours, to match. Fiat says the extra equipment, worth £1,275 (RM8,477) “is not normally available as an option at this level in the range,” and that the £540 (RM3,584) outlay over a standard Abarth 595 is a relative bargain.

The Trofeo doesn’t get the 160 hp worth of power like the mid-range 595 Turismo or 180 hp like its range-topping 595 Competizione and 595 50th Anniversary siblings, but the familiar 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol mill is still capable of 140 hp and 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, while top speed remains at 204 km/h. The Abarth 595 Trofeo Edition can be had for £15,510 (RM103,115).
