Summer may be technically over in Europe but that hasn’t stopped Sant’Agata from unveiling its latest baby, the 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. As expected, the major difference between this model and its fixed-top sister is the inclusion of an electrically-operated fabric roof.

Said fabric roof is available in three different hues – brown, black, red – and can be deployed or dropped in 17 seconds at up to speeds of 50 km/h. Lowering or placing the roof back in place is done via a button mounted on the centre stack – a separate function also allows the driver to raise or lower the rear window.

Other changes include a built-in duct that is said to reduce turbulence in the cabin while the car is on the move with its roof stowed away. Elsewhere, a pair of removable lateral “wind guards” are said to improve comfort and allow for “conversations at high speeds” by “damping the lateral aerodynamic pulsations.”

As expected, kerb weight has increased by 120 kg to 1,542 kg – nothing new under the bonnet, though. The 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder is powered by the same naturally-aspirated 5.2 litre V10 engine from the hardtop Huracan that pumps out a total of 610 hp at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends the power to the road via an all-wheel drive system.

Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 324 km/h. As standard, the Spyder is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes with 380 mm front discs. Additionally, the car also incorporates start-stop and cylinder deactivation capabilities first seen on the 2016 model year Huracan.

Other standard goodies include LED head and taillights, 20-inch Giano wheels and Lamborghini Infotainment System II. The latter is complemented by the presence of a 12.3-inch TFT display system in the cabin – said display screen projects vital information including navigation directions and whatnot. The 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder costs €186,450 (RM908,512) with deliveries slated to begin in spring 2016.
