As reported earlier on, school students residing within the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) area will be able to use the free “PJCT School Bus” shuttle service to 11 different schools starting from today, October 1, theSun reports. “It will be available in the morning from 6.30 am and no members of the public will be allowed to board the bus except for students in school uniform,” commented PJ mayor, Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain.
The free one-way shuttle service will ply a 16 km-long route that begins at the PJ South 3/2 bus hub and terminates at the Taman Jaya LRT station – the entire journey is estimated to take around 55 minutes. Azizi had also stated that potential drivers will be screened prior to employment. “We will have the bus driven by the same driver each day,” he said.
“This way the driver gets to know the children’s routine and in addition the parents build up trust in the driver,” added Azizi. Stops will include Sekolah Rendah Agama Kampung Medan 1 and 2, SK Petaling Jaya, SK Jalan Selangor 1 and 2, SK Assunta 1 and 2, SMK Assunta, SK and SMK La Salle, Catholic High School, SK Alam Shah 1 and 2, SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, SK Sri Petaling 1 and 2 and SMK (L) Bukit Bintang.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Syabas. A very meaningful community service.
So are the taxi gonna riot over this service and say causing them to loose thier jobs? Are they?
Well done!!…slowly and steadily Pakatan shows how to win the voters. Should expand to big cities eg Klang, Shah Alam etc. The opponent will never retake Selangor.
With PAS out, I wouldnt be too sure. Bangi definitely wont.
As we speak, the kampong folks are getting their free cows.
Wouldn’t the school bus operators be unhappy with this?
This is one hell of good community service!!! Definitely 2 thumbs up!!
Damn good idea. Lets hope it lives up to its purpose.
Now, lets see if the community would like to volunteer crossing guards at each stop.
Tomolo I go wear my pinafore to get free ride
first and foremost, i’d like to congratulate the minds behind the establishment of this service. no new technology or breakthroughs needed to put this into place, just the acceptance by MBPJ to invest in the children and youth, at their costs mind you, if PJ will be taxed abit more to sustain this service is yet to be seen, but nevermind the details, thank you for investing in the future.
my observation from this would be, being a PJ school boy myself back in the good ol’ days, a bus service which picks up all students from all schools within the Petaling Jaya district may encounter the occassional “turf war”. Rival schools may meet on said bus services and tensions could flare. It is my hope that they have taken this into consideration when formulating the plan for this bus service. Hopefully the bus driver has an assistant (i know this will cost MBPJ more) to help him regulate the flow of passengers and maintain order in the said buses. Also, considering that female students will also be included in the same routes, it is my hope that their interests would be taken into consideration too.
school boys may not act out as much on a normal public bus due to the fact that there are other adults around, a nice tight slap could come from any unsuspecting angle. but with a bus comprising entirely of school goers, the Form 5 boys may decide that they’re the Boss of the Bus and this may lead to them being a bit more brazen towards their juniors and female students alike.
lets work together to make this service work without any unwanted incidents.
thank you mbpj.
Would it be useful/feasible to have a bus solely dedicated to female students? Thought this might help allay some parents’ concern highlighted above.
Taxi driver will protest and complaint to SPAD. Ini bas sekolah sapu. Reducing their income from parents. lol.
