Lexus has officially announced updates for the 2016 model year RC coupe, and aside from the revisions, two new variants have joined the lineup – these are the RC 200t and RC 300 AWD, which also come in F Sport versions. A slight change in the available colour palette too, with Starfire Pearl replaced by an Eminent White Pearl paint scheme.

The RC 200t features the same mill found in the NX 200t and IS 200t, which is a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit, the 8AR-FTS, with 241 hp and 349 Nm of torque. As for the 300 AWD model, it’s essentially a detuned RC 350 with the same 2GR-FSE 3.5 litre V6. Here, it offers 255 hp and 319 Nm of torque. The RC 350 F Sport, meanwhile, now has 306 hp and 375 Nm of torque.

The RC 200t is paired with an eight-speed automatic, while the RC 300 AWD features a six-speed auto. The 200t variant comes solely in a rear-wheel drive layout while the RC 300 features all-wheel drive, as its suffix denotes. The RC 350 (both standard and F Sport versions) is of course rear-wheel drive, utilising the same AA81E eight-speed transmission as seen on the 200t.

Performance-wise, the RC 200t does 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and has a 230 km/h top speed, while the RC 300 AWD does the century sprint in 6.3 seconds before topping out at 209 km/h.

F Sport variants get optional orange brake calipers and a limited slip differential. On the 200t, performance dampers come as standard, but are an optional upgrade for the RC 350 F Sport. In addition, said variants are also offered with Lexus’ Enform Service Connect which is linked to the MyLexusandBeyond app, allowing owners to view vehicle information remotely.

Safety-wise, all RC models get eight airbags, while tech comprises of ABS, traction control, VSC, hill-start assist and Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM). Elsewhere, the RC 350 F Sport in its rear-wheel drive guise gets a revised VDIM, which gives owners control over the variable gear ratio steering, rear-wheel steering and the Lexus dynamic handling system.

  • Doesn’t the RC350 F-Sport comes with the same 8-speed as the RC-F? I think only the RC300 uses the 6-speed. And rear-wheel drive should be a standard on the RC350.

You’re right, lulu. The RC 350 has the same AA81E eight-speeder as seen on the 200t, and is RWD. The RC 300 AWD (and RC 350 AWD) runs with the A760H six-speeder. Details have been corrected. Thanks for the spot.
