What’s a Japanese motor show without funky kei cars? For this year’s event in Tokyo, we have the Suzuki Mighty Deck concept. Suzuki describes it as a “fun-oriented minicar,” but fun is, of course, a subjective matter.
In Suzuki’s brief press release, it mentions that the Mighty Deck (suspiciously similar to an ice hockey team, no?) features a canvas top that is retractable, making this kei car a convertible.
Additionally, there isn’t even a traditional boot if you move to the concept’s rear. Instead, an open rear deck like the flatbed of a pick-up truck replaces it, accessed via a bottom-hinged tailgate that can be raised and lowered automatically.
Even though the Mighty Deck is decked out (pun intended) in bright paint, the overall design remains largely minimalist, save for the curvy, triangular-like head- and taillights.
Wood grain panels are also a common sight, located at the lower front fascia, tonneau cover, and on the car’s interior dashboard. On that mention, the interior exhibits modern minimalism as well, with touch panels and aluminium surfaces occupying it.
Other highlights seen include a rectangular steering wheel with on-wheel controls. Even the pedals appear to be recessed, and there’s a coloured heads-up display as well.
What do you think of the Suzuki Mighty Deck concept – do you think it exudes fun, or something else altogether? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Awesome design.
There is so much to like about this car.
The front and back looks symmetrical, especially the head and tail lights have identical design.
And that wood dashboard. Would make an S Class blush.
