Volvo V90 model appears in new Liquid Blue colour

There’s been yet another sighting of an upcoming Volvo in scale model form — here is the upcoming V90 estate, again, but in a new shade of Liquid Blue paint this time.

Just as the S90 sedan and black-painted V90 we’ve shown you before, this 1:43 scale model has once again been leaked by CarNewsChina. But if you’re looking for something a little bit more real, maybe you should have a look at the 1:1 production S90 interior we’ve managed to spy, or the S90 test mule itself from not too long ago.

Both of these sedan and estate models are expected to make their global debuts in the near future, underpinned by Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), as part of the brand’s recent push forwards to introduce a wholly refreshed line-up by 2019 — by then, we’ve been told that the new XC90 will become the brand’s longest-serving model in the available range.

The S90 and V90 are expected to make their debuts in the Chinese market first, and will then on move towards being offered in other markets around the world.

Powertrains will of course include Volvo’s latest range of 2.0 litre four-cylinder Drive-E engines, with the range topped by a plug-in hybrid T8 Twin Engine, similar to that available in the XC90 we’ve only just tested in Sweden. There, the T8 is good for up to 407 hp and 640 Nm of torque.

In Sweden, when we took the opportunity to ask Volvo about these scale model reveals of late, its vice president for corporate communications, Jonathan Goodman, said that despite all we’ve seen so far, there will still be some surprises left to be revealed when the car is officially shown. “You will still be quite surprised with the final products, we are sure,” said Goodman.
