As expected, here is the new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe making an appearance just ahead of its public debut at the coming LA Auto Show. Previewed by the Honda Civic Concept that was revealed earlier this year at the New York Auto Show, here is a full look at the production-ready model.
For starters, the road-going Civic Coupe has been severely toned down from the concept that we saw earlier – gone are the slim wing mirrors, aggressive black front bumper, and large rear wing among other items.
The Civic Coupe does wear a very familiar front face that largely resembles what we’ve seen on the 10th-generation Honda Civic sedan. However, the car does feature a lower, wider and planted stance that pulls off a very aggressive look.
Physically, the Civic Coupe is 48 mm wider and has a 73 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor. When compared to the latest-gen four-door sedan, the Coupe features unique exterior styling from the A-pillars onwards. The rear overhang is reduced by 140 mm, while the steeply raked roofline also results in a 25 mm lower height.
Inside, the Honda Civic Coupe’s cabin is said to offer 238 litres more usable space compared to the previous generation coupe. Rear passengers will also be able to stretch out to 127 mm more legroom than before.
There is also a new one-piece, soft touch instrument panel with moulded stitching, an LED shift indicator, LED overhead lighting and a leather-wrapped gear knob (limited to certain variants).
In the US, the Honda Civic Coupe line-up starts from the LX variant, while the top-spec model is played by the Touring. As standard, all Civic Coupe models include LED daytime running lights, full LED tail lights, an acoustic glass windshield, automatic climate control (dual-zone in the higher variants), and Walk-Away auto door locks, to name a few.
Optionally, the Civic Coupe can be upgraded with Honda LED headlights, a remote engine start system, a full-colour TFT centre instrument panel, and a seven-inch Display Audio touchscreen. Speaking of which, the new Android OS-based interface is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay platforms, and further audio options such as Pandora, SiriusXM and HD Radio.
Just like the Honda Civic sedan, the US market will get two engine options, with base variants featuring the 2.0 litre DOHC i-VTEC four-pot petrol engine, delivering 158 hp and 187 Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Top-spec variants will get a more potent 1.5 litre DOHC direct-injection turbo mill, which is good for 174 hp and 219 Nm of torque. As per the Civic sedan, the turbocharged engine is only available with a CVT which sends power to the front wheels.
The Civic Coupe is expected to make its market debut in the US come March 2016, and as mentioned, will be making its public debut at the coming Los Angeles Auto Show.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Don’t get excited with this 1.5 engine. neither don’t get excited with the new vtec 1.0 and 1.5 engines.
Malaysia will never allow that in. If they do, they will have to sell the Civic Sedan for RM80k. This is because our tax and excise duty is such that the lower the CC, the less the import tax on the car. It is not just road tax like that.
So, they need to protect Proton and sell the Civic to us at RM120k.
This is the true turbo we are saying about. Those half cooked turbo (e.g. Preve) contribute nothing but only petrol thirsty.
lol suddenly honda become expert on turbo engine? i thought honda fan all hate turbo and worship na engines?
1.5 turbo making 174hp in cooler climate ok la.. but in Malaysia the temp is very hot. i doubt honda dare to sell turbo engine with those number over here :D
When don’t have turbo complain no power, no torque, turbo engines will smoke this crap easily.
When got turbo say not reliable, climate too hot for it, too much power, too much torque.
With our fuel quality the engine will be detuned to be lower hp as in all other brands so far. However since you are the turbo expert how come there are so many other cars with small engines with as high or even higher hp figures sold here locally??

where is preve suprima exora turbo..?
1.6 turbo (138hp/205nm)
@urzu3
momo was commenting on the Civic 1.5L engine having 172hp which is too high and thus unreliable. So all the examples i gave were small capacity engines between 1.4-1.6L with at least 160hp and above to prove a point that many other engines have similar or higher displacement.
hahahaha..civic fd 1.8 prangggg…tgk2 preve sebelah tapau,,,
160 bolehla geng…180 melayang-layang Preve…pffttt…

abdorber kong memangla wobble.
absorber kong mestila wobble friend.
Oh. VW? Bmw? Mercedes? Audi? All got 1.6l or smaller cars
That is why BMW and Audi are ripping Malaysians off.
We always expected to be RM120k for a civic. So people will still buy it because it’s Honda even if the engine is downsized. They may compensate with more equipments though.
Remember Ford Focus? Best seller in Europe is Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost.
But here they force us to use the 2.0. They gave us some bull about how our oil not good enough for 1.0 Ecoboost. But now, they sell the 1.0 Ecoboost in the Fiesta despite using the same petrol.
As usual, not for sale in Malaysia.
For coupe series? Whyy
Seems a better option to Kia Koup.
Honda CRZ @ 120K was a gd example
The rear is so much better looking than the sedan
for such as low 1.5cc with high HP output, that requires a lot of high pressure turbo to boost the pressure. how will that affect the overall turbo life/engine?
*1500cc or 1.5litre
If cannot stand then bocor lor. Vtec bocor, lol

Either way, I’m very much looking forward to the new Honda Civic. The promised improved NVH and refinement would be most welcome.
