Planning on renewing your road tax or registering that new car before the year is out? Well, better make it quick, because there won’t be any Road Transport Department (JPJ) services available for a five-day period from next week, The Star reports.

The department announced via a notice on its website that it will be halting all its available services from December 23 to December 27.

jpj shutdown notice

It said the shutdown period – which coincides with two national holidays on December 24 and 25 – was to facilitate an upgrading of its systems, which will take place from 10 pm on December 23 right through to 7 am on December 27.

Apologising for any inconvenience caused, the department added that all activities, be it at JPJ counters, Pos Malaysia counters, JPJ kiosks, MyEG kiosks, UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) as well as phone transactions by the public, companies or JPJ business partners will be closed.

Upgrades are necesary evil… if the change manager said the risk of upgrading can be mitigate by allowing more time so be it….

But still, who’s the IT vendor? 5 days for a systems upgrade kinda long… must be a very major one

system upgrades is a major things and it must be planned months before.

should at least announce 30days earlier….

  • There are 365 days in a year. Why JPJ chose to “upgrade” the system during this critical period where car distributors and dealers are rushing and fighting for registrations at these very few days left before 2015 ends ?

And, Liow Tiong Lai, you know many consumers want to take delivery of their cars for Christmas and New Year holidays ?

And, Why JPJ can’t be more sensitive and considerate ?

And, why need to shut down the system completely for 5 looooong days ?

And, I bet, the system won’t be back to function on 28/12/15, for sure.

  • Sebenarnya JPJ nak gabungkan sistem saman Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan dengan sistem SIKAP-nya. Sebab tu update sampai 5 hari.
