Prices of Kia Malaysia vehicles in Malaysia looks set for an upswing come 2016 according to this unofficial price list sourced from a local internet forum. The increase in prices appear to go up to 4%, and affects nearly almost every model offered here by Kia Malaysia.

The new prices should come into effect on January 1, 2016, and only affects the Peninsular Malaysia region. Only two of Kia Malaysia’s most recent introductions – the Cerato Koup (RM135,888) and Rio Sedan (RM72,888) – are unchanged in prices (on-the-road with insurance). The other models with their new 2016 prices (OTR with insurance) are as follows:

Kia Picanto 1.2 AT – RM61,888 (post-GST, RM59,888); RM2,000 increase
Kia Rio 1.4 SX Hatchback – RM81,888 (post-GST, RM79,080); RM 2,808 increase
Kia Cerato 1.6 Kx – RM91,888 (post-GST, RM89,680); RM2,208 increase
Kia Cerato 1.6 SX – RM101,888 (post-GST, RM99,480); RM2,408 increase
Kia Cerato 2.0L – RM119,888 (post-GST, RM117,680); RM2,208 increase
Kia Optima 2.0L – RM150,888 (post-GST, RM148,000); RM2,888 increase
Kia Sportage 2.0L 2WD – RM120,888 (post-GST, RM118,888); RM2,000 increase
Kia Sportage 2.0L 4WD – RM139,888 (post-GST, RM137,800); RM2,088 increase
Kia Sorento 2.4L – RM159,888 (post-GST, RM156,800); RM3,088 increase

The Malaysian Automotive Association predicts that vehicle sales in the country will continue to increase for the month of December, due to the anticipation of price hikes in 2016. It was recently revealed that Honda Malaysia will increase the price of its City model for 2016, and with Kia Malaysia hiking the prices for nearly all of its models, will you be rushing in to place an order before the year’s end?

Kimchi cars are safe loaded with airbags, traction control, Emergency brake assist & VSC unlike most Toyota Malaysia sushi cars – coffins on wheels

somemore no more manual new Kimchi cars. At least your Toyota still got manual option to choose (Vios J, Hailat, A Vanza 1.3E, InnoVan E-spec and Hiace). Even Honda don’t have manual already after CRZ.

kia cerato 2.0 is almost RM120K. for that price, I would definitely settle for a Mazda 3 high spec at RM125K.

Go and test drive those new KIA cars. Better handling and stability on the highway thanks to optimised suspension setup by KIA. This is no more mid 90s to early 2000k cars. You won’t need to change rims n tires like those popular Japs cars sold here just to get the stance and feel. Btw, what RV crap with so many cars on the 2nd market. Ppl rather buy a 2nd hand 3 series or benz if they looking for 2nd hand cars nowdays

How can you shift kia cars with increased prices when you need to give discounts on even the current retail prices? If their sales performance continues to be lacklustre, there are a big possibility that the kia franchise will go to someone else in the near future.

For kimchis, a hike in new car prices mean and exponential drop in trade in value.

Thanks to Naza for doing thing.

RM150,888 for a Kia Optima. How to sell? This is a car with very low resale value. I bought a new Optima in 2005 and used it for 10 years. When I sold it, it was worth less than a 12 year old Wira. True story.

Solution : buy a 12 month old unit. Will be traded in for around RM25k and sold by used car dealer for RM60k+
