By now, I’m sure many of you have watched the #ViosPulseOfAction video, in which four Toyota Vios were involved in an awesome synchronised drift show. Now, UMW Toyota has released short interview videos of the people behind the wheel, as well as behind the camera.
First up, the drifters – the four are Hideo Hiraoka, Shigeru Takahashi, Yukio Matsui and Takahiro Ueno, professional drift drivers from Japan. Among other things, they had good things to say about the Vios – Matsui said that it was an “very exciting car” with “great manoeuvrability” that was fun to drive, while Ueno claimed that the car’s smoothness made him able to perform the stunts in the video.
Next, it’s the directors’ turn. Film director Ryo Miyakoshi spoke of the challenge of exceeding expectations of viewers who are already used to outlandish stunts performed in cars, and that perfect synchronisation was the way to do it. Director of photography Hiromi Tsushima, on the other hand, revelled at the fact that these shots would not have been possible in Japan, adding that they took full advantage of that in the video.
Watch the full video, plus the four teasers after the jump. So folks, what do you think of this campaign?
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
It’s kinda hilarious. Does this mean that these Vios are capable to participate in the Formula D? To me, this is more into marketing gimmick, where they should actually be focusing more into consumer relations. UMW kinda failed again.
Indeed.Where the sense of sportiness in Vios ?
Handling – bad , Chasis – mehhh , Power – mehhh
Drivetrain – boring , Engine sound – sleepy
Bodykit – yes , aerodynamics – maybe, but no proof
Promoting FWD car drifting is useless.
Even faster, sportier car don’t do lame ads like this.
Re-cooking last night dish? So boring
Suprima S ads and its background music remind me of the boxy tv advertisement in 90s.
Tarak airbag, abang2 Jepon berani drift ya.
Tayar botak ooo
Even though this kind of ad doesn’t suit Toyota Vios, but enjoyed watching it.
why is this a thing??
WTH..
Good grief, why even bother doing an advertisement about drifting when you didn’t even include Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control on your ancient technology Vios?!
U are missing the point isn’t it? U can’t drift with TC and ESC ahhahaha
The interview should cover how much insurance there stuntmen were charged. Eventhou we drift with DSC or VSA switched off, the lack of airbags is also a high risk!
OMG… such lame ads are only fueling those reckless racer-wannabes in stickered-up Vios.. now they’re gonna think that the Vios are really sports cars or pocket rockets instead of being the lame cars that they actually are..
Sales keep dwindling even after drifting.
This is not even a drift. This is just a power slide at best. FWD cars dont drift.
Looks like an old artist trying too hard to entertain new generations, boring toyota. Pls cut the crap and introduce something revolutionary!
It is unconscionable that Toyota is advertising their own weakness as an attracting point to the young people. Earning this type of blood money will earn bad karma.
Just bought the Vios E model about 1 mth ago, disappointed..every time I turn the steering, it would have the friction sound..according to the Toyota workshop senior technician, it is “normal” to have this sound for all vios model..so it can not be fixed…anyone wish to buy, please take note…
