2016 Yamaha NMax now in Malaysia – RM8,812

2016 NMAX

2016 NMAX

Hong Leong Yamaha yesterday launched the 2016 NMax scooter for the Malaysian market. With a 155 cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine, the NMax enters a market niche already occupied by the Honda PCX150.

The NMax’s engine is good for 14.8 hp and torque is claimed at 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm. ABS will not be included on the CKD NMax, but braking will still be with 230 mm diameter discs front and rear. Fuel injection will ensure optimum power and peak fuel efficiency.

Gearbox is a dry-clutch CVT going to a v-belt final drive. Hong Leong Yamaha has priced the 2016 N-Max at RM8,812 including GST, but excluding road tax, insurance and number plates, compared to the Honda PCX150 at RM11,990.

I believe this scooter cost around 8.5-9k in Thaland. Same goes for the PCX. I don’t think the Yamaha Tricity will ever come here because our JPJ confuse and do not know how to categorize it.

      Exactly

I wanna buy one new scoot and i love the design of nmax

But since they simply just take off abs to earn more margin, i wont be buying this stupid scoot unless they reinstall the ABS

We need to boycott this model so they will think bank their markerting strategy

Finally, PCX has a rival in Malaysia. I think it will be pricing slightly 1k to 2k cheaper than PCX. In term of safety of course PCX is better with their Combined Brake System… In term of comfortable, most of the review you can get from youtube saying that the rear suspensions are too hard but create better stability during cornering…

Nobody gonna be a fool simply buy when yamaha thought they can just take off the safety ABS and hope people still gonna buy it

I for one will be so pissed off with their marketing strategy and eventhough i am looking for one new scooter, i wont be buying this model unless they release the ABS version

  • As usual. Striped down the safety feature but maintain the price. Life is so cheap in Malaysia.

I’ll skip this version until they put back the ABS.

Again, no ABS. ABS is proven to save 4 out of 10 lives in crashes that would be fatal. No ABS = not care for my life. No thanks. I can buy more scooter or motorcycle for the same money and better. If it had ABS, then that is another story.

  • too bad hongleong yamaha chose NOT TO BE A GAME CHANGER
they should have includes the ABS in their CKD Yamaha NMax
grabbing potential market share from those targeting Honda PCX100 ( with higher budget) and those whom concern about road safety and those with low budget..especially the B40 market
