Subaru’s EyeSight tech sees less crashes in Japan

Subaru Forester Facelift 1

Subaru’s EyeSight collision avoidance technology utilises stereo colour cameras to monitor the road and traffic ahead for potential hazards, and is capable of stopping the car in emergency situations. However, how effective is the sytem? According to Japan’s Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis centre, very.

The Japanese automaker recently released data from a survey of traffic accidents involving Subaru vehicles in Japan from 2010 to 2014, where it was revealed that there has been a 61% reduction in crashes for vehicles equipped with the EyeSight system.

Furthermore, vehicles that had the collision avoidance system had 84% fewer rear-end collisions than those without (in terms of accidents per 10,000 vehicles). There were also 62% fewer vehicle-to-vehicle collisions and a 49% reduction in vehicle-to-pedestrian crashes, according to Subaru.

EyeSight is comprised of six technologies – Pre-collision Braking, Pre-collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Pre-collision Steering Assist and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Unfortunately, no Subaru vehicles in Malaysia carry the same but it is standard on certain models in other markets.

We did pay for the Eyesight, we all pay tax.
The money went to pay Mata-mata and AES! Another type of eyeSight or Oversight.
AES apparently is a deterrent to speeding, which causes accident. Save lives too! Muahahaha…
