Our spy photographers recently captured what looks to be an MPV/SUV from Peugeot. Spotted testing somewhere in Sweden, undergoing tests on a blanket of snow, the large vehicle here is believed to be that of the 5008 or 6008 – which was last heard of back in 2013.

Although heavily wrapped in camouflage, the extended rear and wheelbase seems to indicate that this Peugeot could possibly be seven-seater SUV. French magazine Largus, was given to understand that “P87,” is the internal codename for the 6008. In addition to that, it is said to be a replacement of the 5008 MPV.

Based on reports, despite it being an SUV, the 6008 will likely be leaning towards spaciousness, rather than off-roading characteristics. Design-wise, the Peugeot SXC Concept will be the main inspiration for the 6008’s styling and it’s likely sit on PSA’s Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2), which is also found on the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso.

Inside, the 6008 should sport Peugeot’s driver-focused i-Cockpit too. It can also be expected to feature a host of safety tech including active city brake, park assist and much more, seeing that it’s catered to a more urban environment. A petrol plug-in hybrid is said to be under development for the model.

As for markets, China is said to be PSA’s main place of interest, so this could be where the SUV is headed once ready. The SUV is slated to enter production in 2017, with the plug-in hybrid version to follow in 2019.
