The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, last seen in 2012, has returned once again in a calm, beautiful blue and in ‘Spider’ form. Design house Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has brought out the roadster to be displayed at the Geneva motor show.
On that note, the name Disco Volante means flying saucer in Italian. As a refresher, the Disco Volante two-seater is inspired by the Touring designed Alfa Romeo C52 of 1952. The entire design language of the Disco Volante follows the classic sports Berlinetta by touring closely.
Here, it’s painted in a Blue Ceruleo scheme, coupled with a beige and black Connolly leather interior. Everything inside the topless Volante Spider is identical to the coupe, which is that of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.
Under the long hood is a 4.7 litre V8 engine with 450 hp and 480 Nm of torque sent to the rear wheels, via a sequential paddle-shift gearbox. The Disco Volante coupe goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 292 km/h. The Spider, being a little bit heavier, should by slightly slower.

Just curious how one turns the front wheels, as the top part of the tyres are inside the fender. Otherwise, it looks great.
