Apollo Arrow debuts in Geneva – 1,000 hp, 1,000 Nm!

The company formerly known as Gumpert, now renamed as Apollo Automobil GmbH, is back with another supercar. Following in the footsteps of the Gumpert Apollo, here is the Apollo Arrow – a two-seat, mid-engined hypercar.

Just like the Gumpert before it, the Apollo Arrow is radically styled, features gullwing doors, and claims to be the best there is. The car maker even says that “no other street-legal car generates more downforce than the Apollo Arrow”.

The Arrow measures 4,890 mm long, 1,992 mm wide and 1,224 mm tall. That puts it around 430 mm longer and 110 mm taller than the Gumpert Apollo, despite both models having the same 2,700 mm-long wheelbase. The car is also marginally heavier than the old Apollo, weighing 1,300 kg – still remarkably light for a 1,000 hp hypercar. Speaking of which…

For power, the Apollo Arrow features a new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 1,000 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. This gets the Arrow from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, and then to 200 km/h in just 8.8 seconds. Its top speed is 360 km/h.

The car features a sequential seven-speed CIMA transmission with a twin-plate clutch system. Like the Gumpert Apollo before, the Arrow also gets a fully-adjustable “Competition” suspension system. There’s also automatic ride height control, an air lift Airjack, a carbon-fibre body, Launch Control and a Torsen self-locking differential, to name a few highlights.

Apollo claims that its latest model is completely street-legal and meets all FIA standards. As such, it is easily homologated for various racing series. Strangely, though, wouldn’t you say it looked a lot like a McLaren P1? Tell us what you think of the Apollo Arrow in the comments section!
