Waze 4.3 on iOS includes new Planned Drives feature

Waze Planned Drives_All iOS Screens

Good news for iOS users (again), because Waze has announced that version 4.3 of the highly popular navigation app is now live. Available for download in the App Store, the new update includes a brand-new feature – Planned Drives.

According to the company, “Planned Drives takes the stress out of planning an appointment or important trip, whether it’s today or in the week ahead.” That’s right, Waze now allows you to set a planned drive in advance, by simply entering your desired location along with the time and date you need to arrive by.

Waze will then recommend the best time to leave ahead of the scheduled event. Furthermore, the app will provide reminders leading up to your event with an updated departure time based upon real-time road conditions. This makes it easier to manage your time and schedule to avoid traffic.

Planned Drives also offers a recommendation graph illustrating traffic peaks by hour for the next seven days. That should come in handy when planning for errands or departing on a road trip, as the app is also capable of calculating the recommended departure time.

Unfortunately, Android users will have to wait (again) for the update to come to the Play Store (at least version 4.0 is now available). As for iOS users, pick up the update and try out the new Planned Drives feature. Let us know what the experience is like.

Anyone find Waze is not quite reliable lately? I notice,

      (1) The route won’t turn RED unless Wazer flags the traffic there.
      (2) Then only Waze server started to calculate the average speed on that stretch.
      (3) May or may not trigger a better suggestion of route.

Think about it. The server can already calculate the average speed (base on the stats) instantly without the need of wazer flag it first.
