Lexus RC F joins Australian New South Wales Police

Recently, the Australian Victoria Police got its hands on a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe to add to its fleet of patrol cars. Not wanting to be outdone by its peers, the New South Wales (NSW) has gotten itself a new set of wheels as well – a V8-powered Lexus RC F.

The new police car will unfortunately be relegated to become a multi-purpose vehicle for the NSW Police, participating in roadside campaigns to promote road safety, as well as featuring as a static display at community engagement activities. Therefore, there won’t be a real life Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit scenario being played out here.

The coupe will operate in the NSW Police’s Southern Region, which is based in Wollongong and encompasses a vast area from Deniliquin Local Area Command in the west to Goulburn and Griffith at its northernmost points.

“It gives us great pleasure to provide the NSW Police with a stunning RC F coupe to assist them with their important task of promoting safety on our roads – a critical issue for all road users as we enter the Easter Period and colder months of the year,” Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said.

Though the RC F will probably not be pushed to its limits in the pursuit of justice, NSW Police still dubs the sports car as a “potent new weapon to its arsenal.” Which is apt, considering the 5.0 litre naturally-aspirated V8 under the bonnet dishes out 470 hp at 7,100 rpm and 530 Nm from 4,800 to 5,600 rpm.

here in Malaysia, we don’t have a high-power patrol car but we have a super-luxury patrol car.

Previously we saw an EVO X patrol car OTR, now where is it??! Displaying at the musuem??!

    • Super-luxury? Do you mean super luxurious? Still a far stretch from being super luxurious for a Lancer. Performance oriented is the correct term

  • Aussie used to have Holdens & Ford Falcons as their patrol cars. Now thanks to pipu who kolos their indigenous automotive industry, their polis need to use expensive foreign brands cuz nothing else can catch up to V8 Commodores.

RIP proud heritage of Aussie automotive industry.

    MY cud be next.

  • Australian have Holden, Malaysia has Proton. But unlucky PDRM… Forced to buy Proton. Prior to that era, it were Mitsubishi Galant, Daihatsu Charmant, Alfa Romeo, Volvo 240, Volvo 740 and Volvo 360

    • Back then those cars r reliable and can be repaired under the pokok.

Now for Mitsu, polis wud have to jostle with private cars for service in 3S, Daihatsu service is non-existent, Alfa no longer reliable, and for Volvo need to wait spare parts from Sweden half way round the world.

Kancil was also used at one time. Maybe useful to catch criminals who are on foot or riding bicycles but not so useful against those driving vellfires or pick-up trucks.
