Lotus showroom in Kuwait City opens for business

Lotus has recently opened a new showroom in Kuwait. Situated in Kuwait City’s Shuwaikh district, the showroom also saw the unveiling of the Lotus Evora 400 at the same time. It was joined by the Lotus Exige.

The showroom is located close by to the SIRBB race circuit and is the result of a partnership between Lotus Cars Middle East, distributor for the region, and Alghanim Motors. The entrance of Lotus in Kuwait is part of plans to expand the brand across the region by developing both existing and new markets in the region.

“We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Lotus sports car brand to the Kuwait market, under the exclusive patronage of Alghanim Industries,” said Samir Kasem, COO of Alghanim Industries.

“Kuwait remains an important market with great potential and, with Lotus Cars Middle East and Alghanim Motors, we’re looking forward to welcoming the next generation of customers in Kuwait to the Lotus brand,” said Aslam Farikullah, COO of Group Lotus.

At the moment, Lotus Cars Middle East has dealerships in the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon. It plans to enter into other markets with new showroom launches, which are being planned for the near future.

    • Lotus has a niche. Just focus on it shud be priority. It dun have the cash or deep R&D to take on Ferrari or Lambo, neither it is small & nimble enuff for making kit cars (ie Caterham).

Go back to basics and come out with next gen Elise. That shud be their bread & butter. Forget about Danny Bahar’s fantasies, it almost killed them.

Lotus is just a burden on Proton. Proton lost RM2.5 billion in the last 3 years. Every month, it is losing RM25 million. So much of money spent to buy Lotus and to sustain Lotus. No wonder why Proton is losing so much of money.

Now Proton begs Government to give them free RM1.5 billion. Money that belongs to you and me. Why keep Lotus? just want to syiok sendiri and tell the world that we own Lotus? And to syiok sendiri and put Lotus Engineered badge on Protons?

Hello Proton, you are losing RM25 mil a months lah!!!!

  • Bad timing..Kuwait is facing serious budget deficit due to drop in oil prices and the Kuwaiti government is in process of taking away some of the subsidies and freebies given to their citizens.

Oh but if money comes from shadowy foreign organisations to OWN team, instead of the OTHER side, then is okays. No swimming pool there.

Proton is not doing too badly but they always made bad investment. Lotus has been losing money since I can’t remember when. For a company like proton where they cant even sell 50k cars for each model, why are they wasting money developing hybrid? Just make the car cheap and reliable is better than making hybrid.

Make sure your cars can sell first then you make enough money to pursue secondary purpose like hybrid or electric cars. Why keep wasting money on some things that you can’t made economically when your cheap cars ain’t even selling well.
