Lexus Malaysia issues recall for ES sedan – 90 units

Lexus-ES-250-Luxury-3

Lexus Malaysia has announced a recall for the facelifted Lexus ES sedan sold in the country, due to an issue pertaining to the car’s brake actuator. This is part of a global recall campaign issued by the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) that affects certain ES and RX models, although only the former concerns Malaysians.

The affected vehicles may have been fitted with a brake actuator that was assembled with a pump containing a damaged O-ring. As the brake actuator controls the car’s anti-lock braking (ABS), traction control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) systems, it may be possible that brake fluid pressure will not be properly controlled when any of these systems are activated, due to the defect.

As a result, this could cause a loss of vehicle stability and increase the risk of an accident. As mentioned earlier, only the ES model is affected as the RX models sold in Malaysia do not have the issue. According to TMC, around 90 imported ES models are affected, manufactured from September 2015 to February 2016. These units will be recalled under a Special Service Campaign to rectify the issue.

Lexus Malaysia will contact owners of the affected vehicles directly to bring their vehicles in to correct the defect. All costs related to the recall will be borne by Lexus Malaysia. For those who have not been notified, or wish to find out if their Lexus ES is affected, they can contact Lexus at 1800-8-53987 or contact the authorised Lexus dealer they bought their vehicle from.

Toyota motors Corp owns daihatsu and Lexus brand. Together it sold over 300,000 news cars in Malaysia thru it’s distributor in.msia – UMW, Lexus Malaysia and perodua (which rebadge daihatsu cars). Toyota hold over 50%/of market share in Malaysia. And that’s a fact. Honda no 1?

You forgot Toyota is no 1 in the whole wide world as well. But that doesn’t take away from the fact UMW still sucks.
