Brabus G63 Widestar 700 – subtle, this is certainly not

Brabus G63 Widestar 7

The Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG is already an imposing-looking SUV, and will more than often draw a few eyeballs to it, where ever it turns up. However, Brabus feels that it could do a whole lot more (again) to make the G 63 a sure-fire standout. Therefore, the company has created this – the Brabus G 63 Widestar 700.

If you’re used to seeing your favourite Brabus vehicles – be it the Rocket, GLE, C 63 and others – coated in a sinister shade of black, the G 63 Widestar gets a more cheerful body colour, Solar Beam. The colour, which sounds like a Pokémon move, is accompanied by Brabus’ Widestar kit of body parts. At the front, the hood gains a carbon-fibre insert with a scoop.

There is also a Brabus grille in black, new headlamps, additional LED daytime running lights, larger air intakes and additional trim pieces. Around the rear, Brabus replaced the spare wheel cover with its own, and installed a new bumper featuring integrated LEDs. A fixed rear wing has also been added to the top of the SUV. Rounding things off are black wheels, a sports exhaust system and Brabus badging.

Moving inside, the G 63 Widestar consists mainly Brabus black leather with contrast yellow stitching, which is used on the seats (with ‘Brabus 700’ embroidered onto the headrests) and door panels. Elsewhere, the floor mats have been replaced, and certain areas of the cabin have been re-trimmed. Brabus badging can also be found on the steering wheel, pedals and gear lever.

Being a Brabus, a power bump is almost always a certain. Under the hood, the 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 gets a thorough reworking to now produce 700 PS and 960 Nm, up from 571 PS and 760 Nm. Gold air intakes and new turbochargers are just some of the modifications that contribute to the colossal output that is enough to get the 2.5-tonne car to 100 km/h from a standstill in just four seconds.
