Renault Zoe EV reaches 50,000 production milestone

Renault Zoe 50k

The Renault Zoe electric car has reached its 50,000-unit production milestone. The landmark unit rolled off the production line at Flins in France, the only plant to produce the EV, and was sold to Parisian Ms. Sylvie. Renault says that 98% of the Zoe’s 50,000 customers are satisfied with their battery-powered hatchback.

Renault says that since 2013, it has been the only carmaker to have a complete all-electric vehicle range with the Twizy, Zoe and Kangoo Z.E. Since then, the EV market has grown rapidly, expanding by 48% worldwide in 2015. A total of 18,500 Zoes were sold last year for a market share of 20% in Europe and over 55% in France. The continuing rollout of new infrastructure means charging is easy – today, more than 60,000 charge points are available to the public in Europe.

The Zoe is sold in Malaysia, too. The five-door hatch – which motor produces 87 hp and 220 Nm, and has a range of 210 km – is priced at RM145,888 on the road without insurance. With a 3.6 kWh charger, it would take nine hours to get the Zoe fully charged. On a 7.0 kWh fast charger, filling up the 22 kWh lithium-ion battery takes four hours. Full details here.

      • The car is green, it is the powerplant that’s not.

Nobody ever complain about the household appliances not green…

    • 50k production milestone because no road tax in France, no toll in inner London and can use the bus lanes during traffic jam in Oslo/Norway.

A compact car costing RM146K with a range of only 210km and require at least 4 hours to refuel (recharge)? This only makes sense for environmental warriors.

what happened to Madani Sahari and MAI and all their bull about EEV cars? I am waiting 8 years now for Proton hybrid. MAI said Hybrid supposed to come 8 years ago.

Even our Iriz EEV also, Proton just do tayang just to get more BILLIONS from the Government to sapu.

When they showed the Iriz EEV, they hype so much. Even MAI also hype so much. Now? No news at all. It was just a show to get more r&d money from the Government to sapu.

I am thinking of buying this car. Does anyone have any experience with this car? How much would a full charge add to my tenaga bill?

Can count base on estimate, 200kWH = 0.218
Full charge (without count power loss) = 22kWH = mean only RM4.796
      Count in per km, 210km/RM4.796 = RM0.02398.
Let said every 2 days per charge, per month need 330kWh. which mean around RM50 per month for electric bill.
Look cheaper, but don’t we forget our house still need using electric for other devices, airconn, TV, heater & other. Once it hit Blok Prorata the price, bill will NAIK gila-gila.

22kWh battery with charging overhead of 15%
      roughly =~ 26 kWh * 51.4 cent…= RM 13.416
      assuming Ron 95, RM1.75
      =RM13.416/1.70
      =~7.9
      210KM/7.9 = roughly 23km/l with some overhead from jam…

I have had my fair share of Renault’s car during my stay overseas. Reliable as expected from a strict budget. I can see quite a number of their cars nowadays on Selangor’s roads.

Unfortunately it’s hard to sell this car here with the price tag of RM 145k. If only it’s price like the Twizy…
