Mazda has announced that on April 22, 2016, it has hit a new milestone with the production of the one millionth MX-5 (or Roadster in Japan). Achieving this figure comes after 27 years, over four generations (NA, NB, NC and ND) with production of the MX-5 starting at Ujina Plant No. 1 in Hiroshima in April 1989.
“From the first generation through to today’s fourth-generation model, the reason we have been able to continue selling the MX-5 all these years is due to the strong support of fans around the world,” said Masamichi Kogai, representative director, president and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation.
To express its gratitude, the One-Millionth MX-5 (fourth-generation ND model) you see here will displayed at fan events in Japan and around the world. Naturally, the car is painted with the company’s premium body colour – Soul Red.
The MX-5 continues to live a long, illustrious life, and was recently crowned as the 2016 World Car of the Year and 2015-16 Japan Car of the Year. It also previously held the Guinness World Record for the best-selling open-top two-seater sports car. With the achievement of one million units of production, Mazda will now attempt to break its own record.
So, if you’re a Mazda MX-5 owner, congratulations, you’re now one in a million. For those who aren’t owners, want to join the club?

Proton, why u no create tin proton 2 door roadster. All your previous cars kill anyway, why u didn’t make exciting cars besides no power Satria GTi and a weak R3. 4 generations sold 1 million units is not hard to jump on this bandwagon, doesn’t it?
