GALLERY: 2016 Mazda 2 and CX-3 in more colours

Earlier, we reported that the 2016 Mazda 2 – the one that now comes with LED headlamps – will be offered in four additional colours. Similarly, the CX-3 crossover also gains some additions to its colour palette. Therefore, we decided to check out these new colours in person at a Mazda showroom.

Due to limited availability (for now), we managed to capture just two of the four new colours – Smokey Rose Mica and Deep Crystal Blue Mica (the other two are Dynamic Blue Mica and Black Mica). As you can see, both examples of the 2 here are wearing a ‘sports kit’ that tags on front and rear bumper lips, side skirts and a rear spoiler.

On the sedan, the kit will cost you an additional RM2,300, and RM2,370 for the hatchback. Speaking of price, the 2 (sedan and hatchback) retails at RM90,766.30 (OTR without insurance) for the new colours choices, although Soul Red is still a RM530 premium.

Mechanically, the 2 remains unchanged with a 1.5 litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder direct injected petrol engine (with i-Stop), providing 114 hp at 6,000 rpm and 148 Nm at 4,000 rpm. A six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission is paired to the engine.

As for the CX-3, both new body colours were seen at the showroom – Ceramic Metallic and Dynamic Blue Mica. Similar to the 2, the price remains unchanged here at RM131,218 (OTR without insurance).

Under the hood, you’ll find a 2.0 litre SkyActiv-G direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine producing 154 hp at 6,000 rpm and 204 Nm of torque at 2,800 rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic gearbox.

Equipment-wise, both the 2 and CX-3 come with LED headlamps, alloy wheels, MZD Connect infotainment unit with a seven-inch touchscreen, Commander Control, heads-up display, automatic air-conditioning and paddle shifters.

So, what do you think of the new colours options for both Mazda models? Are any of them attractive to you? Let us know in the comments below.

According to Bermaz, wiring differences between Mazda 2s fitted with halogen and LED headlamps means a plug-and-play option will not be available.

great car but bad attitude sales person at puchong branch. went with my friend, both of us wanted to test drive, during test drive we ask simple questions and got bombarded. not sure salesman trying to be sarcastic or merely not interested with our sales. End up we pick VW Passat as our choice.
