Fiat Tipo 5-Door hatchback, Station Wagon revealed

Fiat Tipo 5 Door-01

Fiat has released details and images of the Fiat Tipo 5-Door and Station Wagon variants. Both five-door hatch and wagon join the Tipo sedan that first surfaced as the Turkish-market Fiat Egea in May 2015. The three-car range was designed for the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region.

Compared to the 4.5m booted four-door Tipo, the 5-Door hatchback is shorter at 4.37m long and 1.5m tall. The SW adds 20 cm to that plus 1 cm to overall height thanks to standard-fit roof bars. The load capacity under the parcel shelf is best-in-class: 440 litres for the 5-Door and 550 litres for the SW.

Magic Cargo Space in the latter includes a loading floor that’s reconfigurable – it can be lowered to maximise capacity and locked at a 40-degree angle to enable the load to occupy the underlying space. At the sides of the boot are two panels for holding small items, which can be removed to further increase the width of the area. There’s a storage space for the tonneau cover under the floor. Two lights, two bag hooks and four load-retaining hooks are also present.

The three bodystyles are matched to three trim levels and three engine families, with three gearboxes. The three trims are Pop, Easy and Lounge, while the Euro 6 engine range offers diesel, petrol and dual fuel (petrol and LPG) options.

The available transmissions include a five-speed manual, six-speed dual-clutch automatic and six-speed conventional torque converter automatic, depending on engine.

The turbodiesels are a 1.3 MultiJet II 95 HP and 1.6 MultiJet II 120 HP (also available in the ECO version), while the petrols include a Fire 1.4 16v 95 HP, 1.4 T-Jet 120 HP and a 1.6 E-torQ 110 HP. Completing the line-up is the 1.4 T-Jet 120 HP bi-fuel unit.

The Tipo’s flowing interior includes Fiat’s Uconnect HD LIVE system with seven-inch high-res colour touchscreen display and a capacitive screen that the user can pinch and swipe like a tablet. The system includes a hands-free Bluetooth interface, audio streaming, text reader and voice recognition, AUX and USB ports with iPod integration, steering controls, reverse camera and new TomTom 3D built-in navigation.

Users who download the free Uconnect LIVE app onto their smartphone can fully exploit the benefits of Uconnect LIVE, including music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn, news from Reuters, connected navigation and the ability to stay in touch with friends via Facebook and Twitter. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be available on Uconnect HD LIVE.
