Last month, PSA Peugeot Citroen revealed its new “Push to Pass” roadmap, a five-year growth plan that will include the launch of 26 passenger vehicles and eight light commercial vehicles. According to Parkers, one of those vehicles will be a pick-up truck based on the Toyota Hilux.
Sharing platforms isn’t an uncommon practice among carmakers, especially in the interest of cost saving in vehicle development. For instance, the Toyota ProAce, Citroen SpaceTourer and Peugeot Traveller all use the same architecture, but each features its own individual styling.
For now, no further details on the PSA pick-up truck were disclosed, including whether it will bear a Peugeot and/or a Citroen badge, or if it will get Toyota’s new range of GD diesel engines.
Parkers say that it will obtain more details about the subject in the near future. Safe to say, the Hilux-based pick-up will be part of the “one new car, per region, per brand and per year” approach of the “Push to Pass” roadmap.
