18 more toll plazas to go cashless (ETC) from June 1

Toll

Motorists take note, a total of 18 more toll plazas on six highways will adopt the electronic toll collection (ETC) method from June 1, from noon onwards, The Sun Daily reports.

The 18 tolls plazas include the Bagan Ajam, Perai and Sg. Nyior collection points on the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR). The Mines and Loke Yew toll plazas on the Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) as well as the Ayer Hitam, Saujana Putra, Teluk Panglima Garang and Pulau Indah toll plazas on the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE).

Elsewhere, the Bukit Raja, Kapar Moc A and Kapar Moc B toll plazas on the New North Klang Straits Bypass Expressway (NNKSB). The PB2X toll plaza at the Sultan Abdul Halim Mua’dzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) along with the Sungai Ramal, Bukit Kajang, Sungai Long and Sungai Balak toll plazas on the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK), will all utilise the ETC method.

“Highway operators will ensure facilities for the sale of Touch ‘n Go cards and top-ups are available in 24-hour lanes and personnel will be stationed to help consumers to smoothen toll operations at all plazas,” said deputy president of the Malaysian Association of Highway Concession Companies (PSKLM), Sazally Saidi.

Of course they will go for cashless toll. Imagine every toll user top up RM50 but yet to use. The amount of money collected for interest will be huge. Why not they follow telco. Use first follow by payment on month end. Sure they will not agree.

yup agree with car lover. with cashless the toll operator got money first. they done like the cash system ..pay when use only. the operator want fast n more money..same goes to their shareholders.

  • What’s the point of going cashless when they have the habit of allowing top-up to be done at the same location. During heavy traffic, the que for top-up among a few limited booths cripples till blocking even those cars intending to go over to smart-tag lanes or TnG lanes that doens’t require top-up. Why can’t plus create a corner probably 1KM away from actual toll booth and have top-up done there preventing traffic jam!? Else it is only a waste of effort trying to go cashless at these areas.
