Casey Stoner gets special Nolan X-Lite carbon helmet

2016 Nolan X-80RR Casey Stoner special edition helmet - 9

For riders, helmets are a very personal choice, more so if you’re a rider who races at the top-flight of any of the world championships. Aside from being an essential piece of safety equipment, whether on road or track, helmets are also an expression of the rider’s personality.

Australian Casey Stoner, two-time world MotoGP champion and currently test rider and brand ambassador for Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, has been wearing Nolan helmets throughout his career. It is sometimes said that it is easier to get a motorcycle rider to change motorcycle brands than to get the rider to change his helmet.

In Stoner’s case, this might just be true. In recognition of that fact, Nolan – founded by Lander Nocchi in Bergamo, Italy in 1972 – has produced the Nolan X-802RR Ultra Carbon Superhero Edition One-Off for Stoner.

Finished in a very translucent shade of the Italian tricolore, the gossamer paint finish lets the carbon-fibre weave shine through. Emblazoned on the helmet are graphics of kangaroos and traditional native Australian motifs, as well as Stoner’s racing number, 27.

“Coming to Nolan is always a pleasure for me, because I get to see old friends and fans who have followed me from the very beginning and have been at my side in every race with their professionalism. This One-Off edition is a surprise for me and it is really fantastic! I can’t wait to get on my bike and wear it,” said Stoner.

No word on whether a replica version of this top-of-the-range Nolan X-802RR will produced for the public, but fans can only hope.
