Subaru Tecnica International (STI) has announced that pre-orders of the Subaru XV Hybrid tS has begun, and the model will go on sale this fall through Subaru dealerships in Japan. Priced from 3,226,400 yen (RM124,898), the special edition model takes a standard XV Hybrid, and introduces exclusive suspension upgrades from Subaru’s motorsports division, similar to the Forester tS.
Among the STI-tuned components fitted include a new front strut suspension and rear dampers, coil springs (front and rear), along with a front flexible tower bar and draw stiffener. To highlight these performance enhancements, the XV Hybrid tS also receives some unique exterior details as well.
Orange highlights can be seen running from the STI-designed front spoiler lip, over the 17-inch aluminium wheels (also with orange highlights), along the side skirts to the roof spoiler. Other details include a dark grey front grille, black side mirrors, plus STI and tS badging.
Inside, the orange theme continues, with contrast stitching found on the black leather/black suede combination seats. The seats also get embossed with the STI logo and come equipped with heating capabilities as well (front only).
Elsewhere, orange stitching can also be found on the front and rear head restraints, as well as the beige door trim. Finishing touches include a piano black instrument panel, orange door armrests and exclusive STI-branded side sill plates.
Powering the XV Hybrid tS is a FB20 2.0 litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder petrol engine (150 PS and 196 Nm), which is aided by a 14 hp electric motor fitted within the car’s Lineartronic CVT transmission. The electric motor is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack located beneath the boot floor. Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system sends power to all four wheels.
