The BMW X5 M is a mighty thing, in more ways than one – 567 hp from its 4.4 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine propels this SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in four seconds flat, onwards to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. Tuning firm G-Power has seen fit to give amplify its engine output even further, bringing the headline figures up to 740 hp and 980 Nm of torque.
G-Power’s output gains over the standard X5 M were achieved with the use of a bespoke titanium exhaust system, larger turbochargers, stainless steel downpipes, and G-Power’s Bi-Tronik 2 V3 software upgrade. The added muscle over and above what the X5 M already had translates to a 300 km/h top speed, while the standing quarter-mile sprint is dispatched in 11.5 seconds, despite its 2,403 kg weight.
To handle the tuned X5 M’s uprated performance, G-Power has fitted 23-inch forged alloy wheels, shod with 325/25R23 tyres. G-Power’s own GX6M-RS coilover suspension aims to keep the big, brash SUV’s body movements in check. G-Power understands, though, that not everyone wants to give their SUV F12 Berlinetta-rivalling outputs; the tuner also has packages for 641 hp and 689 hp states of tune.
