Following the reveal of the coupe model during this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini has now unveiled the new Centenario Roadster at the recently concluded Monterey Car Week. Like the coupe, the open-top Centenario was built to celebrate the centenary of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth (1916), and only 20 units will ever exist.
Visually, the car looks almost identical to the coupe, featuring the same jaw-dropping design, with a few modifications to ensure harmony with the lack of an attached roof. There is now a channel just behind the seats’ headrests, a tweaked windscreen and an integrated rear diffuser (above the lettering) to ensure airflow is optimised. These changes add up to a 1,570 kg dry weight, 50 kg more than the coupe.
The limited-edition model’s monocoque and body parts are all made out of carbon-fibre, with the latter painted in a special silver colour that Lamborghini calls Argento Centenario. However, customers can specify their cars in any colour they choose with the Ad Personam personalisation programme.
Under the hood, the Roadster shares the same 6.5 litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine, which produces 770 hp, and revs all the way to 8,600 rpm (raised from 8,350 rpm). This allows for a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.9 seconds, one tenths slower than the coupe, though it’ll hit the same 350 km/h top speed.
Other items that are carried over from the coupe include the car’s rear-wheel steering, Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox, magneto rheological suspension, along with a rear wing that extends up to 150 mm, and is capable of rotating to a maximum 15-degree angle to provide the best aero performance and stability at high speeds. Five-spoke alloy wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear) are fitted here as well, wrapped with Pirelli PZero tyres.
As for pricing, the Centenario Roadster is two million euros (around RM9 million), which 250,000 euros (RM1 million) more than the coupe. As mentioned earlier, only 20 units will be made, and they’ve all been accounted for. Double bummer.

I think this car using 1.6 Campro engine with CVT bising Punch Powertrain gearbox!
To make the unwary feel that it is 31 year older than Ferrari.
6.5 litre NA V12 producing 770hp is unfortunately still no match to LaFerrari’s 6.3 litre NA V12 789hp. Sometimes I wonder if Ferrari have made world record for highest HP in a NA engine – and no one can beat it (or bother to) since everyone is downsizing to turbo. Maybe the NA technology has peaked in our generation, and will become extinct soon. Sad actually if we think about it.
