The Mercedes-AMG GT is proving to be a popular choice for tuners to apply their talents, and here’s another. Called the AMG GT-RSR, it is the work of German tuner, Piecha, which has a sizeable portfolio when it comes to the Three Pointed Star.

Based on the S version of the GT, Piecha started by giving the coupe a more exciting exterior. This includes fitting a few aero components made from carbon-fibre, beginning with a front fascia that features a lower splitter and carbon fins on the air vents.

Moving down the sides of the car, things appear to be pretty standard, save for the new 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels, plus the prominent side skirts. The modifications that have been applied to the rear however, are a different story.

The obvious change here is the large diffuser that incorporates a pair of dual, chromed 90 mm stainless steel exhaust pipes. There is also a fixed rear wing fitted, which works well with the standard car’s retractable spoiler, unlike the setup on the Edition 1.

As you’d expect, Piecha has fiddled around with the car’s 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 as well. The result is 612 PS and and 840 Nm, a whole 102 PS and 190 Nm more than the standard car, and 27 PS/140 Nm more than Mercedes’ latest GT R.

With the power hike, Piecha is claiming a top speed of 330 km/h, which is 20 km/h more than the S version, and 10 km/h faster compared to the R. The 0-100 km/h sprint time is clocked at 3.7 seconds, making it one tenth of a second quicker than the GT S (3.8 seconds), but at the same time, slower than the GT R (3.6 seconds).
