2018 Toyota Camry – next-gen to get aggressive face

You’re looking at what could be the face of the 2018 Toyota Camry. Well, the NASCAR version of it, at least. This image, circulated online, apparently shows the new aggressive face of the next-generation model, albeit grafted on a NASCAR.

That last bit isn’t too much of a downer, as previous generations of Toyota’s Camry NASCAR racers have always resembled the real thing rather closely. The details are usually accurate, if obviously exaggerated and widened to fit the American stock car.

With a bold grille, slim headlamps and wide, almost Lexus-like “spindle” lower intakes, the 2018 Toyota Camry looks to be quite a departure from its current USDM form. And yes, before you get too excited, this previews the North American-market Camry rather than what we will get here in Malaysia.

It’s said that the next-gen Camry will be built on a more sophisticated TNGA platform (like the latest Prius), complete with weight-saving aluminium body panels. A 2.0 litre turbo engine has been touted too, as well as the customary hybrid version.

We’ll know more in due time. For now, what do you think of this new face?

20 years ago, the Uncles are as young as you. But after 20 years, they know they won’t go wrong with Camry. This is call LIFE WISDOM.
Every boy here will become uncle one day, but not every uncle can afford a Camry.

Beautiful and stunning…i like the new agressive and minimalist face…the headlights complement the overall looks of the front fascia…will sell like hotcakes again…and obviously will continue to be the best selling car in the US for 15th consecutive year…syabas toyota…

I pity the Malaysian bashers especially in this very auto blog. Camry has always been no. 1 seller in the USA for the past 15 years. With average of 40k unit a month (that’s about 500k every year). Only recently the new civic has shaken camry sales but nevertheless Toyota camry and corolla and Honda’s civic and accord are top 4 best selling cars in America neck and neck (all average of 33k a month = total 120-130k). The Americans don’t bother much with looks but what matters most is reliability to prevent visiting the workshops too often. They don’t buy cars based on looks only. They are matured when it comes to car purchases

          Mr.Fantasy
Y r right. The only problem here is UMW.U see, motor division got to cover for the massive losses of their oil n gas outfit.
Even if this camry debut tomorrow in Bolehland,it will come with the TULANG specs…but VERY SKY HIGH PREMIUM pricing.
To reward outrageous dividends to unit holders,PNB has to wallop profits to the max.UMW has no choice but to obey.
Thats why,u can NEVER get a reasonably priced Toyota in Bolehland.
Look at Hyundai distributorship.Another GLC.The elantra is priced higher than even Toyota and Honda marques.

And, sorry, just can’t help …, it is ugly.

And, Toyota is never about ride/handling, performance & speed nor designs, let alone luxuriousness, it is about reliability and aftersales service.

With the cost optimisations, is the Toyotas nowadays still as durable and reliable as older ones?

At least Camry don’t have fake exhaust tip, silly-looking same colour rear diffuser, funny rear quarter glass, nonsensical faux wood panel and lame fake Jaguar rear lights.

  • It is NOT almost Lexus-like “spindle” lower intakes, it IS Lexus lower intakes…what a shame if Toyota really decided to adopt that well-known design and think people won’t notice.

If toyota decided to change camry character to more sporty look then who’s wanna buy an accord?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
  • Some people have so much time writing nonsensical comments about certain models. Usually the same guys. No one is forcing you to like or buy what you don’t like. Those who love any car model don’t care what others say.
