VIDEO: Toyota Sienta 1.5V MPV walk-around tour

Here we have a walk-around video of the new Toyota Sienta 1.5V. Our very own Harvinder Singh goes into the details of Toyota’s latest seven-seat compact MPV, talking about its looks, technologies, variant-specific equipment and of course, cabin flexibility and practicality.

The funky-looking people mover was launched in Malaysia two months ago, priced at RM92,900 for the base Sienta 1.5G, and RM99,900 for the 1.5V as shown here. Specs differ between the two variants, both inside and out – all explained in the walk-around video above.

Power comes from a 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine making 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm, mated to a CVT with seven virtual ratios. The 2NR-FE Dual VVT-i engine is from the same modern NR family as in the latest Avanza.

Confused between the two Toyota MPVs? Harve explains all in this video. For a complete list of specifications and options for the Toyota Sienta, check out CarBase.my.

The Sienta has been launched for some time now bu I have yet to see one on the road. Goes to show how much sales UMW Toyota has lost because of its uncompetitive pricing and ridiculous kit count that even with the decent offering for Sienta, customers are avoiding it like plague

Have seen alot of these in Singapore and had the chance to ride on of it over there. It looks really futuristic on inside out, but I think it will take some time for Malaysians to accept the design language (Eg, the new Prius). Overall, the car is much better than the Avanza, or the Alza, regardless of the ride, comfort, built quality, or NVH. (Most probably due to it’s different chasis and suspension setup)

It could sell well over in Singapore because all the cars there are bloody expensive, and they do not have much choices for a budget 7-seater. But selling it for RM100k here is too much. I’d take a Proton Exora anytime and use the additional 30k for maintenance, fuel up my not-so-efficient engine, and buy some cigarette to smoke at the roadside while waiting for my tow truck to arrive.

Nice video Harve. Looks like the funky color is the new color on most new cars including the Renault Captur to the new Aston Martin DB11.

I envy the guy who drive the Sienta who manage to let his passengers out in a tight spot at AEON Big on Sunday with the touch of a button while i have to ask my wife to get down B4 parking.

It is indeed a small but practical MPV. With all the latest tech, headlamp/DRL Led lightings & CVT transmission, U will not go wrong if U are looking for a small MPV that is practical/cheap to maintain & yet the envy of people like me who do not own one.

Havinder looks slightly fairer and thin. The ASEAN sienta 15 mm higher to suit our “UNIQUE” road conditions. The Sienta made the Freed looks very conventional. The high dashboard and odometer might block the view for short people.
