With legendary Italian scooter maker Vespa celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Vespa Malaysia took the opportunity to launch six new scooters over the weekend at a gathering of over 500 Vespa owners at Publika Shopping Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. The new models are the upgraded Vespa Sprint and Primavera as well as the recently-introduced Sprint Adventure.

They are joined by the 70th Anniversary Editions of the Vespa GTS, Primavera and PX, which we had a first look at earlier. The 70th anniversary scooters come in a special shade of Azzurro 70 blue, created to commemorate Vespa’s production milestone.

New for 2016 is the inclusion of ABS for the Primavera, Sprint and Sprint Adventure. All three models use the same 154.8 cc, single-cylinder, three-valve engine which produces 12.7 hp at 7,750 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Fuelling is by Vespa’s I-GET fuel injection, and the scooters roll on 12-inch wheels.

Five colour schemes are available for the 2016 Vespa Primavera ABS – Blu Midnight, Grigio Seta, Rosso Dragon, Montebianco and Nero Vulcano. Pricing for the Primavera ABS is set at RM15,781, including GST.

For the 2016 Vespa Sprint ABS, the rider can choose between one of seven colours – Blu Midnight, Grigio Titanio, Rosso Dragon, Montebianco and Arancio Taormina, Verde Muschio and Rosso Matt. The Sprint ABS is priced at RM16,841.

The special edition 70th anniversary models are priced at RM18,440 for the Vespa Primavera 150, with the Vespa GTS 150 at RM20,627 and the two-stroke Vespa PX 150 at RM28,780. Only thirty units of each model are available in Malaysia, and all prices include GST.

    • Here’s what regular people think.

Vespa: you look cool riding it and people actually like it.
250SL: you look like a rempit who weaves in and out of traffic dangerously.

Image is everything when you buy a vespa

Cannot said like that…. Some people like vintage bike like Vespa, some people like fast bike like you said 250SL. Each individual like things is different… Cannot compare. Only you can compare is price is higher than other countries.
