Caltex is the latest fuel retailer to introduce Euro 5 diesel in Malaysia – Chevron Malaysia has launched the new Caltex Power Diesel with Techron D at its outlet in Glenmarie; the latter is the first petrol station to carry the fuel. Positioned as Caltex’s ultra-premium diesel fuel, it retails at RM1.95 per litre as of December 2016 – 10 sen more than regular Euro 2M diesel.
As with other Euro 5 diesel fuels, Caltex Power Diesel contains sulphur content of less than 10 parts per million (ppm), compared to the 500 ppm of current Euro 2M diesels. As such, it is suitable for modern diesel engines and emissions control equipment, and reduces the emission of harmful pollutants.
On top of that, Caltex has added Techron D, now with triple the cleaning power than before. The additive is claimed to keep fuel injectors clean, restore lost power and improve acceleration and fuel economy, while decreasing exhaust emissions and preventing corrosion. Caltex said that after performing standard industry laboratory engine tests, Power Diesel produced 10% more power than a diesel fuel without any additives.
Aside from the Glenmarie petrol station, the fuel is also available in Bandar Laguna Merbok in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The company plans to up the station count to 20 by the end of the month, and 50 by early next year.
