VIDEO: Land Rover Discovery Sport walk-around tour

The Land Rover Discovery Sport replaced the long-serving Freelander 2 model here in Malaysia last year, joining the brand’s new Discovery family which slots above the Defender range and below the more premium Range Rover models. Earlier this year, the diesel version was introduced for this market.

Two engine options are now available: 2.0 Si4 petrol with 240 PS and 340 Nm of torque, and a 2.2 SD4 turbodiesel with 190 PS and 420 Nm. Both are matched to a nine-speed ZF automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels. Naturally, the petrol version is quicker off the line, while the diesel model is more economical.

Prices start from RM420,000 for the standard petrol (RM10,000 less than the similarly-powered but physically smaller Evoque), while the diesel brings it up to RM450,000. A long list of options are available, including a Black Pack for the exterior, larger wheels, side steps, Meridian sound system and more.

It’s no budget option, that’s for sure, but it does offer seven seats (5+2) and that trademark go-anywhere Land Rover characteristics over its rivals. Do watch our walk-around video above to find out all you need to know about the SUV, or go to CarBase.my for the full specifications and equipment list.

Why even buy this junk when the X5 hybrid is cheaper at RM388k?

Even in the UK, X5 Hyrbid is DOUBLE the price of this junk.

So, here, you untung gila gila. You buy the X5 for cheaper price but the car is actually double the value than this Land Rover junk in the UK

Exactly. Jags and LR are just overpriced pieces of junks in Malaysia with awful after-sale. Only brits and die hard fans with too much money need apply.

    Volvo XC90 > all

If u need to go to malls during busy time, some like ikea has special parking for EV cars. Volvo XC90 T8 can park there, this junk cannot.

And Volvo is safer, comfier, NO excise duty, cheaper.

At 420k vs. 405k Volvo XC90 is a real no brainer. Like the XE, the quality of some of the interior trim in the new JLR products are laughable. Whoever buys this given a choice to choose between this and XC90 is a real idiot. JLR Malaysia really needs to learn how to be less greedy.
