Earlier on, we reported that Volvo Car Malaysia has begun offering the Polestar Performance Optimisation programme for select Volvo models. This V40 T5 Drive-E at Clear Marque’s Jalan Kuching showroom is the first we’ve seen with all the Polestar goodies, thanks to the dealer’s initiative.
What goodies you might be asking? Well, the Polestar Performance Optimisation programme offers five separate packages – chassis, intake and exhaust, wheels, interior and exterior, and optimisation – and this car has all of them. Starting with the chassis package, the V40 gains a new set of shock absorbers and coil springs, while the wheels package includes the fitment of 19-inch lightweight rims shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres (235/35 section).
Moving on, a stainless steel exhaust system (with Polestar branding at the tips), a sports air filter, new air box lid and a rear diffuser are all fitted as part of the intake and exhaust package. Lastly, the interior and exterior upgrade includes a new rear spoiler, door sills, black side mirror covers, sports pedals and gear knob.
Finally, the most exciting of the bunch, the optimisation package sees the 2.0 litre T5 Drive-E petrol engine now produce 253 hp (from 245 hp) and 400 Nm (from 350 Nm), allowing it to achieve the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.2 seconds (from 6.3 seconds). It isn’t just additional power either, as the upgrade improves the V40’s throttle response, gearshift speed, gearshift precision and gear hold, as well as off-throttle response.
For those looking to order the Polestar packages individually, the prices are listed in this table, here. It just so happens we have a V40 with the full Polestar package listed on our our sister classifieds site, oto.my, for RM240,888. For your info, the V40 T5 Drive-E retails for RM180,888 (OTR without insurance).

Heard Wearnes will become new Distributor for Volvo, ditching their current BMW franchise.
still handbrake on the wrong side..i find it volvo never give a respect to the driver..
ifonly can improve steering feel
That’s a big price jump from the standard V40. The thing that makes the standard V40 a value buy is that its cheaper than the Golf GTi. If you want a fast hatchback you get a megane RS or Golf GTi.
If any I think it’s 0-100 figure is a little slow. With those kind of figures it should touch 6 secs flat or quicker especially when it’s a hatch instead of a heavier sedan.
But check out the weight of the car bro it’s 1700++kg kerb heavier than any sedans u can find
XC90 T8 Polestar Performance > all

underpower compare to what ? golf gti ? merc a250?

Sir, you must be kidding me right ! Despite improve throttle response, gearshift speed & off-throttle response, it ONLY yielded a 0.1 sec faster. I will wait for Volvo basher/supporter to comment after me.
Mama mia
Interesting, in D3 version they were able to go from 150 to 178BHP, and a 1sec on 0-100kph. Maybe T5 is already maxed on factory settings, and PS is not willing to risk breaking the car by adding more. Also, Polestar kit in the context of engine power is focused mostly on software changes, not actual stage 2 modifications, so you can make over 300 out of it, but not with this lightweight mod.
