As the 2017 New York International Auto Show draws closer and closer, Infiniti has released its first teaser for the QX80 Monograph, which could preview the next generation of the full-size premium SUV.
The carmaker also had some tantalising words to accompany the sole image: “Huge unveil. April 11, 2017. New York.” While it doesn’t say a whole lot about the SUV itself (aside from it being huge), there’s more to be said about what is shown to us.
Firstly, the SUV will likely debut as a concept, judging by the design of the headlights, which feature the same cues as those found on the QX50 Concept. They are also lined up with the upper section of the Infiniti grille compared to the bottom as seen on the current QX80. The lower apron also sports large vents and a front spoiler to give the SUV a more aggressive look than before.
The current QX80 is powered by a (VK56VD) 5.6 litre V8 petrol engine, which provides 405 hp and 560 Nm of torque. This allows the big SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, despite its 2,829 kg kerb weight. The mill is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and can be specified with rear- or all-wheel drive (the latter is the only option available in Malaysia).
