A function previously reserved for the V8-powered Ford Mustang GT, line-lock finally makes its way to 2018 Mustangs equipped with the brand’s 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine. Take a moment to bid adieu to all the tyres that will soon be turned into smoke.
Available for models fitted with either the 10-speed SelectShift automatic or six-speed manual transmission, line-lock makes it easy for anyone to execute burnout, as this video featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr., Formula Drift champion and some volunteers, shows us.
The track-only function is engaged via steering wheel-mounted thumb switches to navigate through a menu on the instrument cluster. Once engaged, the system builds pressure on the front brake calipers, while another button press holds the pressure for up to 15 seconds, allowing the driver to hit the throttle and spin the rear wheels while the car stays in place. Easy.
“We introduced line-lock on EcoBoost Mustangs because we didn’t want those customers to miss out,” said Mark Schaller, marketing manager for the Ford Mustang. “The number of people choosing EcoBoost power continues to grow globally, and with the increased torque and new features coming on the new Mustang, customers will not be disappointed,” he continued.

5 star ASEAN NCAP for Proton Iriz
Euro NCAP is stricter than ASEAN NCAP
