New Suzuki Ertiga set for H1 2018 launch in Indonesia

Word from Indonesia is that there’s a new Suzuki Ertiga in the works, and the fresh MPV is scheduled for introduction in 2018. This is according to local website Otomania, which spoke to PT Suzuki Indomobil’s marketing director Donny Saputra.

Saputra told the publication that the new Ertiga is currently undergoing development, and the intention is to launch it in the first half of next year.

This piece of news comes as Indonesia’s core Low MPV is heating up thanks to the new Mitsubishi Xpander, which made its debut last month, and to a lesser extent, the cheap and big Wuling Confero. Both Mitsubishi and SAIC-GM-Wuling are newcomers to a class that has seen the Ertiga and Honda Mobilio take on the incumbent Toyota Avanza and its Daihatsu Xenia twin.

The Suzuki Ertiga was facelifted in 2015, but is largely unchanged from the seven-seater that first surfaced in India in 2012. The budget MPV sits on the Swift platform, and a new-generation Swift was launched in December 2016. The renderings above are of the current Ertiga with the features of the new Swift.

The current Ertiga is also the base for the rebadged Proton bearing the same name, but now that Proton has its own foreign strategic partner in Geely, it’s unlikely that the Malaysian brand will continue to source the MPV from Suzuki beyond the current deal.

The ertiga sold in My lacks stability control. It should be a good move if it is equipped with it.

I hardly see any Ertiga on our roads. Can Proton tell us how many they sold? Can the number pay of the few hundred million ringgit royalty payment to Suzuki Japan?

Sienta is doing much better than Ertiga in Indonesia la. There they classify Sienta as ‘mobil mewah’

Buy Proton better, don’t buy Perodua cause Perodua doesn’t have any safety features, Perodua only scores four stars safety rating and Perodua also having rear axle problem and Perodua also doesn’t have EV vehicles whereas Proton have safety features, Proton scores five stars safety rating and Proton doesn’t give any rear axle problems and Proton also have EV vehicles.

  • Proton is famous of selling outdated car including the old accord engine. they should bring in the new 1.2 diesel engine.

Both dated engine has failed miserably.
