Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 CKD now on sale – RM140k

Unveiled last month, the locally-assembled (CKD) Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0 AWD has finally gone on sale in Malaysia. Built at the Tan Chong plant in Segambut, the base variant retails at an introductory price (until the end of the year) of RM139,988 on-the-road without insurance, RM31,000 cheaper than the existing 2.4 AWD model that is fully imported from Japan.

Under the bonnet sits a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 145 PS and 196 Nm of torque – 22 PS and 26 Nm less than the 2.4 model – with combined fuel consumption rated at 13.7 km per litre. An INVECS-III CVT sends drive to the Multi-Select 4WD system, which has 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock modes.

The seven-seater SUV looks largely identical to the more expensive model, although the twin projector LED headlights have been swapped for halogen projectors. Otherwise, you get the same LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, fog lights and 18-inch triple-five-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the 2.0 gets fabric seats and loses out on the 2.4’s paddle shifters, sunroof, electronic parking brake, auto-dimming rear view mirror, powered driver’s seat and powered tailgate. Keyless entry, push-button start, auto lights and wipers, a dual-zone automatic climate control and a reverse camera remain, and there’s a new 2-DIN head-unit with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Air Gesture Control and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Safety kit is carried over and includes the full complement of seven airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Active Stability Control (ASC) and Hill Start Assist. There’s also a new wide-angle dashcam (170-degree view) and security safety film for all windows thrown into the package.

The Outlander 2.0 AWD comes in three colours, Red Metallic, Solar White and the new Ruby Black (with red metallic flakes) which is exclusive to Malaysia and available only on the 2.0 AWD. A five-year, unlimited mileage warranty comes as standard. Browse full specifications and equipment on all Mitsubishi Outlander models, and get the best deals on a new car, on CarBase.my.

  • The dashboard is so 90’s. At that price & equipment, a more 2018’s interior would see people queuing to put down their deposit.

Not worth the money. They cut out a lot of spec n this price is only introductory. Should have been the final sticker price instead
