W205 Mercedes-Benz C200 AMG Line – RM254,888

W205 Mercedes-Benz C200 AMG Line – RM254,888

The new Mercedes-Benz C 200 AMG Line marks the latest variant to join the local W205 C-Class line-up, slotting above the C 200 Avantgarde with a price of RM254,888 (on-the-road without insurance). This brings the C 200 offering to three flavours – Avantgarde, AMG Line and Exclusive – and it’s available for the first time in the sporty AMG Line.

The equipment list largely mirrors the C 200 Avantgarde (RM253,888), but for RM1,000 more, you get the full AMG Line makeover, starting with unique exterior bumpers, 18-inch five-spoke AMG alloy wheels (similar to the C 250 AMG Line), flat-bottomed steering wheel and sports suspension. It doesn’t get the panoramic sunroof and adaptive LED headlamps like on the C 250 AMG Line, but LED high performance headlamps are standard.

Elsewhere, the kit count matches the Avantgarde, with leather upholstery (but not on dashboard – that’s only on the C 200 Exclusive and C 250 AMG Line), black open-pore ash trim, analogue clock, seven-inch Audio 20 head unit, push-start button, dual-zone automatic climate control, roller blinds for the rear side windows and rear windscreen, Parking Pilot and a reverse camera.

Besides the stiffer sports suspension, no changes have been made to the mechanics. It gets the same 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 184 hp at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm. For reference, the C 250 bumps output to 211 hp and 350 Nm.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels through the new-for-2017 nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The 0-100 km/h sprint is done in 7.2 seconds and it maxes out at 235 km/h, while fuel consumption is rated to be between 5.6 to 6.1 litres per 100 km. The usual Dynamic Select drive modes and engine start/stop function are standard as well.

Why would anyone buy a C200 @ RM255,000 when you can get a C350e from RM290,000 ?? Am sure there are many who think RM35,000 can get you a small car as spare is better.

Since you’re 12yrsold, I don’t blame you for not understanding the value of money. RM35k on paper doesn’t look like much but even at 0% interest, you’ll have to pay RM1k per month for 35 months just to make the figure of 35k. To some people, that is a lot of money. I agree that the 350e looks better in terms of value but if a person needs to stretch an extra 35k to get it, then he/she will be in trouble when it comes to maintaining it

Bro, if U need to S T R E T C H, U should NOT buy a Merc in the 1st place. U should buy a car that is affordable & cheaper to maintain. BTW, I’m not 12yrsold. My spare parts business is 12 yrs old. TQVM for your reply.

        • 12yrsold is correct. For a person who can afford a merc, 35K extra may be nothing. These kinda people may not need 35 months to raise the 35K. They may be able to even do it in a month or 2. kereta_lembu and i may need 35 months or more. I dunno about kereta_lembu, but i dont drive a merc…

That is the main reason why many Malaysians are declared bankrupts everyday. They think they can STRETCH their RM/Cash but they Fail Big Time TRYING.

obviously 12 years old mentally if not physically. why not stretch a bit 10% more can get GLC250. and stretch again 10% more can get E class. where will it end ? my point is there are many buyers for whom 250k is already reach the limit.

The C Class is more refined. The 9 speed auto is way smoother than the dual clutch in the CLA too. And the C Class has more rear headroom. Of course, the CLA looks really cool.

Paying RM255k for a car that come with “artificial” leather? No wonder the leather looks and feels so hard. May be most owner don’t realize that…. Come on Mercedes! is this what you call luxury brand?

U are right, they don’t kill animals for their skin. They buy from butchers who do the killing for them.

Apologies. MBM has informed us that the W205 C-Class range now has leather upholstery instead of Artico faux leather. Article has been updated.

I do doubt their declared fuel consumption figure “is rated to be between 5.6 to 6.1 litres per 100 km” Any independent 3rd party to verify it?

I’m averaging between 7 to 8 litres per 100km in my C250. Drive was mostly done in highway. In the C200 maybe slightly less due to difference in performance figures.

    • On my C300, while cruising at 80-90 kph, I usually average between 5-6L/100km.

      At 110, it’s around 7L/100km or so.

      Measured with cruise control active.

that is unbelievable numbers for C300, which is not a hybrid.

even Proton 1.6 can’t achieve that kind of mileage when C Class is heavier & also bigger engine but i guess that 9 speed automatic is magic.

Quite a good deal for only RM1k extra. Can MBM do an Avantgarde (AV), but with Burmester sound system? Or any C200 variants, but can opt for Burmester?

Does it come with iOS CarPlay and Android Auto? It’s bad enough MB doesn’t offer any software upgrade for the existing W205. I need them to use Waze on the screen. MB’s navigation software is rubbish. Does your C300 have iOS CarPlay and Android Auto Hafriz?
