This is the F90 BMW M5 First Edition, a special edition model that is limited to just 400 examples worldwide. Thankfully, one of them was put on display during the international media launch of the super sedan, and we just had to snap a few photos.
The First Edition is set apart from a regular M5 by its Frozen Dark Red Metallic paintwork, which we were told is exclusive only to the limited-number model. It is paired with Shadow Line trim from BMW Individual, whereby the kidney grille, M gills and tailpipes are finished in high-gloss black.
Other standard items on the exterior include 20-inch seven-double-spoke alloy wheels, also with a gloss black finish. Beyond that, the car is largely unchanged, retaining its subtle design if you discount the carbon-fibre roof.
On the inside, piano black trim is fitted to most areas, and the centre console features the unique plaque ‘M5 First Edition 1/400’ as a reminder of the model’s exclusivity. Other items include BMW Individual M multifunction seats upholstered in Smoke White Merino leather with red contrast stitching.
Where a standard M5 starts at 117,900 euros (RM567,185) when it goes on sale from spring 2018 in Europe, the First Edition will cost an additional 19,500 euros (RM93,809). Unfortunately, all 400 units have been accounted for, but looks are still free, so there’s that.
