According to a post on Sisma Auto’s Facebook page, the all-new XC60 is set to make its Malaysian debut soon, and those who are interested can register their interest. The company also notes that limited units are available at launch, although there’s no word on projected pricing.
In November this year, the second-generation XC60 was spotted in Glenmarie with the R-Design trim package, which features a range of unique exterior and interior cues. Wrapping applied to some parts of the SUV made it difficult to determine the powertrain being used on the particular unit.
The XC60 can be fitted with petrol-only solutions including the T5 and T6 engines, or a plug-in hybrid system in the form of the T8 Twin Engine. In Thailand, the base D4 diesel is offered, although the D5 version is given a pass there. The SUV rides on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) as its bigger sibling, the XC90, as well as other the 90 Series models (S90 and V90).
For now, it isn’t stated if the XC60 will arrive as fully-imported (CBU) or locally-assembled (CKD) units. However, we reckon it could follow in the footsteps of the S90 and XC90 – first few units being CBU, followed by CKD production later on. As a reference, first-generation XC60 still on sale here is currently being offered in two CKD variants – T5 (RM266,888 OTR without insurance) and T6 (RM298,888).
The XC60 was recently crowned the 2017-2018 Japan Car of Year, beating out strong competition from the G30 BMW 5 Series and Toyota Camry.

How much do you think a CKD hybrid T8 will cost?
For Thailand version some rear air vents have nice control display while some don’t have. How to differentiate this? Is it due to Momentum, R-design and Inscription model?
