Jaguar F-Pace 2.0L Ingenium in M’sia, under RM500k

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has previewed the latest variant of the Jaguar F-Pace – the 2.0 litre, four-cylinder Ingenium petrol AWD, which joins the F-Pace line-up as the entry-level variant in 250 PS form. Prior to this, Jaguar’s first SUV – also the 2017 World Car of the Year – was launched for the Malaysian market solely as a 3.0 litre V6 petrol version.

The base four-cylinder Ingenium petrol mill produces 250 PS and 365 Nm of torque – 90 PS and 85 Nm down from the RM598,800 supercharged V6 model. In this guise the F-Pace charts a 0-100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds, and so far there has been no indication of the 300 PS version’s arrival on our shores; that more powerful version does the century sprint in six seconds flat.

To recap, the 2.0 litre turbocharged inline-four is mated to a lighter and more compact eight-speed automatic transmission, the 8HP45 by ZF instead of the higher torque-rated 8HP70 paired to the supercharged V6 model. Here, the torque converter sports a pendulum damper which absorbs low frequency vibrations for running at lower RPMs without sacrificing smoothness.

An optional Black Pack exterior aesthetic kit (price to be confirmed) is available for the 2.0 litre F-Pace as well, though this covers the front half of the car, namely gloss black accents for the grille surround, lower bumper and side air intake garnish, and side panel vent trim – otherwise finished in satin silver on the F-Sport. In both visual guises, rolling stock is comprised of 20-inch ‘Venom’ five-twin-spoke wheels.

Equipment-wise, the four-pot F-Pace gets the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with the 380-watt Meridian sound system and surround camera system. Standard are LED headlamps and LED ‘J-blade’ daytime running lights, power gesture tailgate, fixed panoramic roof and adaptive cruise control with Queue Assist. Exact equipment listings will surface closer to the launch of the F-Pace 2.0L Ingenium, though it has been tipped to wear a price tag south of the RM500,000 mark.

Alamak bro GLA is a crossover with little to no space while this is a midsize SUV which goes head to head with the X5 and handles well around the corners too. How to compare between GLA and this with just the price??

I’m guessing around 480k with decent kit which is okay but will be a slow seller since it can’t compete with the X5 and XC90 with government rebates. I guess this will give the Velar a run for its money

The name Jaguar itself means English class standard but unfortunately, it also mean high cost of maintenance. Only people who can appreciate the English gentlemen vehicle don’t mind paying for the class.
