Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) today announced its performance results for the first half of 2018, and it has been another record setting period. The company delivered 6,790 vehicles in the first six months, a 15% increase over the 5,913 units sold in the same period last year. It also represents a new best ever 1H result for MBM.
As it has been in the past, the 1H sales numbers were led by the brand’s locally-produced limousines, namely the Mercedes-Benz C-, E-, and S-Class, which collectively recorded a total of 4,322 units sold, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2017 (3,663 units).
The premium SUV range, meanwhile, contributed 1,291 units to the total, a marginal improvement of four percent compared to 1H 2017. As for the compact cars, the A-Class, B-Class, GLA-Class and CLA-Class recorded 996 units sold, a 20% increase over the same period last year, when 739 vehicles were shifted. Elsewhere, sales of the brand’s Dream Cars amounted to 181 units in the first six months of 2018.
The company has also increased its network of dealerships, increasing the number to 34 nationwide. New outlets include the Hap Seng Star Puchong South Autohaus, a 3S centre which brings the Hap Seng Star presence in Malaysia to a total of 10 locations.
The after-sales network also saw an increase in the volume of vehicles serviced, registering 71,650 units in 31 service centres during the first half of 2018, an increase of nearly 16% over that in the corresponding period last year.
Finally, MBM’s sister company, Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia (MBSM), which offers comprehensive financial and insurance solutions, continued to record growth in its servicing portfolio, increasing this from RM2.2 billion at the end of 2017 to RM2.5 billion, with new contracts worth more than RM580 million being recorded. While it continues to finance and insure four out of every 10 vehicles sold by MBM, the number of active customers have also increased in the last six months, and now stands at over 17,000.

This means MBM is growing in all directions. Selling more cars is just the beginning, its the after sales like financing, spares & servicing are profitable too.
In short, a Happy & Satisfied customer will always go back to the brand/service.
