Ford Driving Skills for Life continues on in Malaysia

Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has concluded another edition of the automaker’s Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) programme. The Ford DSFL programme imparts safe driving skills in a number of key areas, these being hazard recognition, vehicle handling, space management and speed management. It includes both classroom and practical trainings sessions to help educate drivers of all levels in safe-driving skills.

The latest installment of the global safety programme saw more than 50 licensed drivers from corporate partners comprising telecommunications, highway maintenance and utilities companies participating in the free two half-day workshops that were held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

Essentially, the programme encourages safe driving by equipping participants to make the correct decisions when behind the wheel. It presents and addresses various driver risk elements such as dealing with unexpected scenarios and aspects of speed/space management as well as the distractions caused by mobile phone use or tiredness.

Participants also learnt about the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or medication by wearing specially-designed gear and goggles that help simulate the experience of driving while movement, coordination and alertness are impaired.

Globally, Ford DSFL is now in its 15th successful year of training licensed drivers of all ages. To date, the programme, which began its local run in 2011, has trained more than one million individuals in safe driving practices.

Very ironic because pickup truck drivers are the worst drivers on the road.

  • Stay away from fords, they will completely fall apart in 5 years, and the spare parts are all from the US. I regret buying fords/chevys.
