Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport – badges, leather, Bilsteins

After the BRZ and Levorg, the Subaru WRX S4 is the next to receive the STI Sport treatment. To be released on September 21, the new variant becomes the WRX S4 range topper, not to be confused with the actual WRX STI.

Subaru says that the WRX S4 STI Sport combines supple ride comfort, agile handling and high handling stability. It rides on inverted Bilstein DampMatic II suspension in front and passive dampers at the back, all tuned by STI including the coil springs. There’s also a clamp stiffener to increase steering rack mounting rigidity, for improved response. The setup is claimed to offer comfort, agility and stability.

In addition to the STI-badge adorned front grill, the WRX S4 STI Sport gets gloss black paint in front, on the slim boot spoiler, shark fin antenna and door mirror caps. The CVT AWD turbo sedan rolls on 18-inch multi-spoke dark grey alloys, wrapped with 245/40 tyres. There are also STI logos on the front wings and boot.

Inside, the WRX gets STI side sills; Recaro front seats combining “Bordeaux” leather and suede; an STI logo in the multi-info display; leather wrapped steering with red stitching, gloss black bezel and STI logo; leather with red stitching and gloss black surrounds for the gear lever; and felt lining in the door pockets. Also seen are matching dark red leather on the centre console.

Available in silver, white, grey, black, red and WR blue, the Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport is priced at 4,093,200 yen with consumption tax in its home market.
