Proton launches six new 3S/4S centres in Malaysia – Port Dickson, Nilai, Ipoh, Bintulu, Miri and Sandakan

Proton’s sales and service network revamp exercise continues, with six new or upgraded 3S/4S centres being launched in Malaysia over the past few weeks. These dealerships, which include a few in East Malaysia, also boast the national carmaker’s latest corporate identity (CI), which features a light blue colour scheme.

Over on the Peninsular, in the state of Negeri Sembilan, there is a new 4S outlet operated by Grand Arena Automotive, which is located in Lukut, Port Dickson. Built with an investment of RM6 million, the outlet features 12 service bays, 12 body and paint bays, along with 30 staff.

The state is also home to LHM One Stop Car Service Centre, an existing 4S outlet (since June 2016) that has been upgraded at a cost of RM1 million to ensure the look and feel of the facility is in line with Proton’s new brand image. Located in the township of Nilai, the outlet has a total built-up area of 27,000 square feet, 14 service bays, and 12 body and paint bays.

Further up north in Ipoh, Perak is also an existing Proton 4S dealer, Warna Bestari, which recently underwent an upgrade to meet the standard requirements of providing greater customer comfort and convenience. Located along the town’s main road, the outlet has 14 service bays, along with 10 body and paint bays.

In East Malaysia, there are three new/upgraded outlets, two of which are located in Sarawak. The first is an existing dealer located in Bintulu, Supernau Motors, which has been in business since 2001. The company operates a body and paint centre located 14 km from its current 3S outlet that was fully renovated to meet Proton’s new standards.

Kereta Mewah, a long-serving dealer since 1986, also introduced its 3S facility at a new location in Kuala Baram, Miri. The renovation costs for the outlet was approximately RM1 million, and features include six service bays, a customer lounge, as well as 20 service and sales personnel.

Last but not least, a new Proton dealer, Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah), officially opened the doors to its new 3S facility in Sandakan, Sabah. The outlet is located in an area with many other car brands in close proximity, which will attract traffic as customers are able to visit several dealers at once. Fook Loi is banking on the X70 to be a competitive model to give it an edge in securing customers.

As of to-date, the number of 3S/4S approved for upgrades is 105, against a target of 109 by end of October 2018, with a 96% completion rate.

          • P2 intended for Nautica to be CBU only model which kirred it. P1 intend to bring X70 as CBU for limited units b4 CKD here for the rest. The CBU is just appetiser while CKD units is the main course. Thats the diff.

I went to one of the Proton’s new 4S SC. Guess what? It has a new image, and trying very hard to make customer feel cosy and welcome. But the outcome? No, there’s no soul in this new 4S centre. I wonder what went wrong. It is a stark contrast to Honda’s or Toyota’s 3S centres.

Trying to have a new image overnight … But like politicians ….They can’t fake a smile for long … That’s what’s wrong.

    • What soul do u find in a 3S/4S? Tortured P2 souls kah? As long they continue to evolve and present a more professional image and it serves the needs of P1 owners, this is alredi a gud step in bringing back customers. Anything more wud and it probably mirror luxury brands presentation for aftersales.

Renovation or building new 3S/4S is hardware improvement. Money can easily solve this.

Crucially now, the human capital needs serious improvement, not just skills but attitude. From the SA to front desk to service advisor to the mechanics. Mechanics need to be more than just “oil changers”, they need to be “troubleshooters”. Training, constant upgrade in skills is the key to this software improvement. There is no point having the best technology but later on be let down by poor human capital.

Seriously a good step forward to the new strategic partnership with Geely. Better late than never. Slowly improve towards better automotive company. Never rest even being bashed.

Playing chicken with HRV. Each holding back price announcement to be able to counter the competitor.
