G11/12 BMW 7 Series LCI face spotted undisguised

It has been a little while since we last saw test mules for the LCI or G11/G12 BMW 7 Series facelift out and about. Now, an image of an undisguised, non-M Sport LCI 7 Series has been spotted on Instagram, though that image has since been deleted from the site.

The screen-captured image above shows that the revised 7 Series wears the enlarged pair of kidney grilles that brings the ‘face’ in line with those of the more recently introduced models such as the G05 X5 and the G07 X7, one which rather dominates the car’s frontal look.

That hint of blue in its headlights suggest the revised 7 Series will use BMW Laserlight technology for its main beams, though in contrast to the M Sport-kitted test mule spotted previously, this example appears to wear a different front bumper style with more chrome trim. Though not revealed in its entirety yet, the 7 LCI’s rear end is also expected to feature updates around the bumper and lights.

As before, the flagship sedan is expected to retain the full complement of engines in its line-up, from various six-cylinder petrols and diesels, a biturbo petrol V8 and the range-topping 6.6 litre V12, this currently serving in the M760Li. A plug-in hybrid could use the electrified six-cylinder powertrain from the G05 X5 xDrive45e.

Detail changes can be expected in the cabin of the facelifted 7 Series, though much of its interior and systems architecture is likely to be carried over to the new car, considering that this is a mid-lifecycle update for the G11/12 car. With most of its development seemingly done, the 7 Series LCI could debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
